Inaugural Concert

On 28 August 2021, the National Youth Choir of Germany, under the direction of Anne Kohler, gave its first concert at the Philharmonie Berlin as part of the Musikfest Berlin. Originally scheduled for an earlier date, the inaugural concert had to be postponed several times due to the challenges posed by the pandemic during which the choir was founded.

The National Youth Choir of Germany presented its inaugural programme, “Alpha & Omega”, featuring a diverse selection of works spanning from the Renaissance and Romantic periods to contemporary compositions. The repertoire included pieces by Orlando di Lasso, Johannes Brahms, Wolfgang Rihm, and a commissioned work by Kathrin Denner. In front of an engaged audience, Federal Minister Christine Lambrecht symbolically handed a tuning fork to Martin Maria Krüger, President of the German Music Council, to celebrate the successful inauguration.
